Ishmael Beah

When Ishmael Beah arrived to Ball State, i was ecstatic. I read that book with conviction, and i thought to myself, "Who could live with themselves after such tragic events?" I wanted to meet this man, and possibly get some more insite into the other stories that didn't exactly tie into the story, but played a role in his life as well. His stories really were phenomenal. What really got me is when he read the story. You actually felt that he spoke with some conviction. When he read the first excerpt from his book, I realized there that what this guy has gone through was more traumatic then the live's we supposedly feel we can't live through. It really sends a message to those types of people. The best question of the night was if he would rap for us. It would have been a sight to see him rap. He said that he had met up with a long time friend to hang out with and rap again with. That was just a cool feeling to know that you could rekindle an old friendship through someone elses words.

4th post

A sad day today. One of the co-owners for the Nba team, Charlottle Bobcats, has died from a single engine plane crash. It's not the i follow the Bobcats, but its that life keeps getting a little more fragile everyday, and from stuff like that, I start to notice that. Also, as long as i stay out of the skies, i think i'll live to see another day.

"Brothers Could Be First Death Row Twins
(Sept. 3) — Two 25-year-old brothers
from Orlando, Fla., could become the first
twins in the nation to be sentenced to
death.
“I’ve heard of brothers [on death row], and
I’ve heard of fathers and sons, but not
twins. Never,” said Richard Dieter,
executive director of the Death Penalty
Information Center, told the Orlando
Sentinel. “That would be bizarre, I’d say,
and most probably a first.”
Identical twins Dante and Donte Hall are
accused of killing two people, Anthony
Bernard Blount, 35, and Kison “Little
Mule” Evans, 32. They were shot during a
robbery three years ago at a house party
in Eustis, Fla., the Sentinel said.
Testimony began this week in Dante’s
double-murder trial. Donte was convicted
in April by a separate jury, which voted 8-
4 to sentence him to death. The judge is
not bound by the jury’s recommendation,
but must give it “great weight,” the
newspaper said.
Defense attorneys for Dante have argued
that he was not involved in the homicides
and that “Donte’s crew” is to blame for the
killings. Lawyers for both brothers have
acknowledged the brothers were involved
in dealing drugs, but Dante’s attorneys
maintain that Donte was the violent twin."

A new first in American history. Two brothers, identical twin brothers, were arrested for the crimes they committed 3 years ago. If both are convicted, they could both face the death penalty, making these identical twin brothers the first twins to ever go on death row. Although not a standard I'm sure everyone wants to follow, I'm sure the American public will be fascinated by this scandal brought up in Orlando, Fl. I think American history could go without this scandal on their record books

Pre-write? Extreme Free-write....

I'm gasping for that next breath of air, trying to trudge my way through this murky forest. My heart now in rhythm with the stomp of my feet. I could feel every beat, and I felt as if I lost breath with every step. I was wheezing, andthis musty forest could not spark my lungs. The piercing cold numbed all my senses, and I was caught in a nebulous state.
I had never once figured my self for a runner, but I was on the cusp of being one of the school's finest runners. I was never forced to do this sport. I wasn't scouted by our high school coach to come out and run. I was simply a boy with a change of heart. I disliked the high school football coach we had, and I was too short to go anywhere in football anyway. So a friend said, "Cross Country would be fun." I agreed.
My coach's caustic tongue was piercing my ears with every word he shouted. I wasn't in first, but in some way, the team depended on every single person to make it out of this semi-state run. Our coach's perception of this race was more than just 7 guys out to run circles around a high school for 20 minutes then go home proud. This was Oak Hill High School's last stand to prove what we were capable of all year....
